Lindita Halimi wins Festivali i Këngës

Albania failed to qualify last year with Eneda Tarifa’s ”Fairytale”

Lindita Halimi will represent Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest next year. Tonight, she won the 55th edition of Festivali i Këngës – Albania’s most popular music competition. Although doing well amongst televoters, the juries played a decisive role in keeping her 13 opponents behind.

The 27-year old Kosovan successfully participated in several music festivals beofre, including Festivali i Këngës. In 2013 she moved to the United States in an attempt to become the next American Idol. Lindita has released several singles, of which most are ballads.

The winning song, Botë, translates as ”World” and is written by Klodian Qafoku and Gerald Xhari.
